Instead “we wait for our husbands to make suggestions. ” Mothers are obviously important in conveying behavioral norms to their children. For instance, they teach their daughters never to allow their husbands or brothers to work in the kitchen. As referred to earlier, in the absence of husbands, mothers take on their roles and responsibilities. Daughters are mostly women in the age group of eighteen to twenty years, many of whom have had at least some years of formal schooling before marriage.
